so you want to be a cadet?

What do I do as a cadet?

Cadets attend regular training nights during the year. Our training nights are held Thursdays from 615pm to 900pm. During the evening you will learn drill, attend classes on various subjects such as leadership, decision making, navigation and you may play sports. At times, there are activities on the weekend.

Some of our activities include: Expeditions (Ontario, Canada and overseas), Hiking and Mountain Biking, Canoeing, Camping, Orienteering and Military Navigation Training, Air Rifle Shooting, Biathlon Team, Marksmanship Team, Drill Team, Winter Survival Training, Team Sports, Leadership & Citizenship Training, Radio Procedures, First Aid Certification, Summer Training and much more!!

Will I wear a uniform?

New cadets who attend a minimum of 3 training nights are issued 2 different uniforms: a field uniform and a dress uniform. It will be your responsibility to make sure that you take care of your uniform. You will need to wash it regularly, make sure the badges are sewn on properly, and you will need to polish your boots. We want our cadets to take pride in wearing their uniform.

what happens during the summer?

Attending summer camps is an important part of the cadet program. Summer camp opportunities are provided to cadets who have completed at least 1 yr of training with the corps and have regular attendance and a positive attitude. Some summer camps are overnight and some are day camps. All camps are free. Selection to summer camps is made at the CO and regional level.
